Gary Zieff

Gary Zieff has been leading dissigno in product development projects for more than two years, including the development of a pedal power and lighting service for the developing world and a renewable energy-powered refrigerator. His business and marketing plan for the refrigerator was a finalist in the Global Social Venture Competition, William James Foundation Business Plan Competition and Business In Development Network Business Plan Competition. Prior to dissigno, Gary spent five years as a consultant project manager leading Shell Oil's Groundwater Team at the Martinez, CA facility. While at Shell, he supervised data collection, analysis, operation and maintenance for the entire 12-acre facility, ensuring groundwater barrier control per state and federal permit requirements.

Prior to work at Shell Oil, Gary produced corporate marketing media, television commercials, and documentaries. He produced national commercials for such clients as SBC, Cisco, PeopleSoft and Levi Strauss. In addition, Gary produced and directed a documentary on the Yosemite Search and Rescue Team, which garnered recognition in film festivals worldwide including the Torello Film Festival in Torello, Spain, International Mountain and Adventure Film Festival in Graz, Austria, and the International Film and Video Festival in Los Angeles, California..

Gary's outside interests include rock climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking.

Dave Williams

Dave Williams has been providing strategic direction for dissigno since it's inception in 2005. He has a background in mechanical engineering, with extensive experience in renewable energy, product development and project engineering. In addition to advising dissigno, he is currently the director of asset management for one of the largest solar portfolios in the world, where he manages $300 million in assets. He has worked in product development for Procter & Gamble and the Australian Trade Commission, where he conducted business development analysis for small- to medium-sized Australian companies looking for expansion into the United States.

Prior to dissigno, Dave managed $20 million in capital improvement projects as a project engineer at Shell Oil. Dave has written and presented Project Engineering for Transitional and Developing Communities at the Sustainable Resources Conference in Boulder, Colorado and has authored several technical papers about developing world products. He was featured in TIME Magazine for the creation of his vortex tube refrigeration techniques. He also founded the Engineers Without Borders chapter at Georgia Tech and helped create a professional chapter in the San Francisco Bay area..

Dave's outside interests include travel, snowboarding, mountain biking and cooking.
