latest newsOCTOBER 2009 dissigno recently returned from a tour of Morocco and Tanzania. In Morocco we met with the director of airports, ports, agriculture and energy to discuss renewable energy projects. In Tanzania we met and brainstormed next steps with Carrie McLaughlin, dissigno Tanzania's Director of Technology for the World Bank lighting project. Please visit dissigno Tanzania Ltd Gary Zieff is joining two panel discussions and serving as an advisor at the joint initiative put on by IEEE and UN Foundation called The Humanitarian Technology Challenge. The workshop, occurring on October 26-28 in DC, is targeted at developing solutions to critical humanitarian needs. SEPTEMBER 2009 dissigno is working with students from Stanford University to develop the Nivalis ice making/refrigeration device, first started by dissigno in 2006. The popular Engineers for a Sustainable World class in the Stanford Engineering School will be starting work on the container, the cooling system and the power supply in the winter quarter 2010. The class will attempt to design a cold storage unit for use in off grid communities, and hopes to prototype the project in Tanzania during the summer of 2010. AUGUST 2009 dissigno has recently secured a contract to manage nearly 5MW of solar PV in the US. Using the experience gained from consulting on large scale solar PV in the United States, dissigno is expanding its core business to new clients. JUNE 2009 dissigno has found two new team members to travel to Tanzania. Carrie and Nish will be working on the lighting and power project over the next three to six months.
